Michael Manuel, Founder and CEO
Mike brings over 20 years of corporate experience ending as a Senior Engineer with Honda in California. He was blessed with a Vision for Economic Empowerment while on a mission’s trip to South Africa. In 1995, he relocated to Ohio to implement construction training programs with overwhelming community participation and support. Mike’s engineering background has equipped him with the necessary technical and managerial skillset to lead by example. He is passionate about making changes in the lives of the people and community in which he serves.
Mission
Our mission is to holistically empower individuals through teaching construction principles that build neighborhoods and develop life skills.
Vision
Our vision is to build communities where youth and adults are skilled in construction principles and thrive cooperatively. We further envision developing communities that are peaceful, resourceful and self-reliant and neighborhoods that are conducive for economic, social and psychological advancement.
D.O.I.T. currently offers the B.E.E. Process (Building Economic Empowerment) for adults & Jr. Engineer programs for youth. Mike has written training programs based on Universal Laws that teach students how to apply construction principles to life skills, such as building relationships and building a business. D.O.I.T. has served all populations. In doing so, D.O.I.T. participated in the Governors Initiative to close the Achievement Gap. Ohio State Senator C.J. Prentiss toured the classroom at Dayton Public Schools and stated that “you have the most innovative programming in the State of Ohio.” Additionally, Mike received the 2017 Mentor of the Year Award from the Mentoring Collaborative of Montgomery County.
D.O.I.T. serves diverse populations, including women. Graduates have worked on a variety of projects from building new Insulation Concrete Form (ICF) homes to participating in residential rehabilitation projects such as the historical $1.00 home in Wright Dunbar Village. Additionally, ten homes were renovated in Highville Hills area while, simultaneously implementing a training program. Graduate students include licensed electricians, general contractors, real estate investors, project managers and entrepreneurs. D.O.I.T. will continue to collaborate with others in the community to further the support causes to benefit youth and adults. It is time to take the initiative and “DO IT”! We all know actions speak louder than words.
D.O.I.T. CDC plans to become the premier builder of energy efficient homes of the future in Montgomery County. We plan to expand to other cities and other states if opportunities exist, prior to expansion to Third World countries.
D.O.I.T. separates itself from other companies in the Dayton area by building exterior walls out of Styrofoam and concrete. This technology is called ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms) construction. I.C.F. walls are fireproof, bullet proof, high wind resistant and termite proof. Our customers will also benefit by reducing their heating and cooling costs by 50% – 80%. We also incorporate the latest heating technology to offset the rising costs of gas and heating oil, to further reduce expenses.
We strive to stay in communication with our partners. Have a question about our business, or want to see how we can collaborate to mentor youth and adults in the construction industry. Send us a message, or give us a call. We're always happy to connect with new team members!
